Other programmes

PlayDays offers several types of programmes - accompanied and drop-off.

All our classes involve lots of art and craft (yes, even for the very youngest ones), music, stories, puppets, drama, dance, playtime, cooking (and eating!) physical games, nature exploration, sand play, water play, sensory and inquiry based learning - but the emphasis is always on having fun and building on those very important life skills like sharing, caring and independence rather than a demanding curriculum - simply, let them be children!

OUR BABY SESSIONS

The first few years of a child’s life see the most rapid and amazing changes, the difference in even a few months is especially apparent for babies.  So that’s why have designed age appropriate activities suited to their individual class groups.

Baby Bubbles  : 6 - 12 months

The world is a wonderful place - so let’s get busy exploring it together!  We’ll sing and dance with twirling ribbons, play peek-a-boo games with puppets, prod and poke with our busy little fingers and toes, splash water and mix paint to create a kaleidoscope of colourful pictures! And all of this with my favourite people around!

Mini Bubbles : 12 - 18 months

Now it’s time to get mobile!  Every new corner needs to be discovered, every toy tested and every new friend explored!  I get to squeeze and squelch all sorts of new tactile materials and tell the world all about it (in my own very special way!) Watch me climb and balance, drink from my cup and make my own arty masterpieces! ALL BY MYSELF . . . and a wee bit of help from you !

OUR TODDLER SESSIONS

Doodle-Bugs : 18 months - 2˝  years

As challenging as this age may seem, we consider it to be “the terrific Twos” - it really is a wondrous time of self discovery and exploration when their boundless energy should be both celebrated and encouraged!  The words “messy” and “dirty” just aren’t in our vocabulary – we love being “colourful” and our classroom is set-up to let inquiring minds and bodies enjoy all our fabulous touchie-feelie activities and art projects to the max!

Chatter-Bugs : 2 ˝ - 3 ˝ years

Having spent the last few years encouraging your child to talk, this age brings an almost volcanic eruption of chatter and those seemingly endless QUESTIONS!  Letting each child have the opportunity to express themselves freely is the key to confident communication and creative minds – so be prepared for racing car drivers turning into dancing princesses and 5-eyed monkeys (who can see better!) with three tails (so they can swing further!) … man’s creativity is limited only by imagination!

PlayDays Drop-off Sessions

We love having parents around, but we also know that both children and their families come to a point where some extended moments of independence are needed!  But why would a young child want to leave the security and comfort of their own home?

Well, a typical “PlayDay” is filled with laughter, fun, playtime, music mayhem, drama and make-believe, playground rough and tumble, cosy quiet story moments, art and sensory exploration activities – everything to keep them well and truly busy!

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on different themes, allowing us to explore all areas of learning in a relaxed and inquiry-based manner.  We will encourage language acquisition, including the alphabet, phonic sounds and pre-writing skills, through daily stories, drama, puppetry, songs, finger rhymes and art.  Mathematical and Scientific concepts are introduced through craft projects, nature exploration, group games, cookery and music… but above all, we want every child to be socially adept, chatty, confident and to love coming to school!!

We also believe that young children should have the chance to develop real life skills, so, for example, setting the table together, helping to make and serve their own snacks, clearing and washing up are all part of the daily routine!
